Celebration of Giving

3 min read

During these hot and sticky days, cool off with some refreshing thoughts from a fellow server on this month's spiritual study guide topic, “drink with me the living waters …” (Misc. 207):

Our spiritual study guide activity for July starts with Wonderful News!

Every one of us has a standing invitation to a great celebration – a sacred celebration.  Sacred means connected with God - holy, hallowed, blessed, consecrated, sanctified.  This sacred invite to a sacred celebration comes from Mary Baker Eddy, who is on The Atlantic’s list of the “100 Most Influential Americans of All Time" and said:

“...drink with me the living waters of my life-purpose – to impress humanity with the genuine recognition of practical …Christian Science” (Misc. 207:1-6). Mrs. Eddy also authored Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, designated by the National Women’s Book Association as one of 75 books written by American women whose words have changed the world.

Issued to the world more than a century ago - and including the request to recognize practical Christian Science - Mrs. Eddy’s sacred invite remains fresh, current and importunate right now in 2018.

And is Christian Science really practical? Yes! Because, as written on page 17 of the Manual of the Mother Church, its purpose is to “reinstate primitive Christianity and its lost element of healing."  Those who use it are learning how to apply the same power as Jesus did to free those in prison, cure and heal the sick, restore lost lives and bring relief to the down-and-out.  It works! It’s been working for 150 years. It’s going to be working 150 more.

I am celebrating! I have accepted Mrs. Eddy’s invite to drink the living waters. Let's celebrate together. Drink to the reinstatement of Christianity that heals and saves. And as Jesus said: “Drink ye all of it” (Matt 26:27).
